Situated on Buzzard's Bay, the Mattapoisett harbor is broad and open to the southeast. From here it is a broad reach to the Wood's Hole on a prevailing southwesterly. Many quaint and beautiful harbors await the fisherman or yachtsman from his homeport Mattapoisett. Cape Cod and its Canal, The Elizabethan Islands, and Martha's Vineyard are all day trips from the harborside"Town Wharf".
At Shipyard Park, summers are filled with community concerts, a July 4th Road Race,
a "Harbor Days" festival, and many local "clambakes" being held not far away.
